Who are we?

The UTMB Montgomery County Health Department is a group of individuals who work to promote health and healthy lifestyles for the residents of Montgomery County, Texas. We strive to provide good health care to all, regardless of economic or social status.

What do we do?

Montgomery County Health Department programs include disease surveillance, vaccinations, screenings and care for the underprivileged.

Among our newest and most exciting activities is in the area of Public Health Preparedness and Response. The Public Health Preparedness program, funded by three grants from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, helps us prepare for and make plans to respond to public health emergencies that could be caused by bioterrorism attacks, and disease outbreaks like Pandemic Influenza.

We at Montgomery County Health Department work hand in hand with local government, hospitals, schools, law enforcement and other agencies to prepare for disastrous events. We hold discussions, write plans, conduct exercises and modify strategies with county representatives and with Public Health and Emergency Management officials from throughout the state.

We all hope Montgomery County is never affected by an anthrax attack, a chemical fire or a pandemic influenza, but should such an incident occur, we want to be prepared so we can respond efficiently and recover quickly.
